Workshop Reminder

The deadline for signing up for the Arashi Shibori workshop is fast approaching. Please refer to the June 29th posting for all of the information. Checks will be accepted from SDA members until August 31. After that date, any openings will go to non-members. So, write your check today and get it into the mail before you forget.

This will be a spectacular workshop with some very exciting techniques being taught. It will not be your usual pole wrap basics.

I am looking into a workshop for late March by a photographer who shoots only art. He does a one or two day hands on workshop. The two day he calls his "mastery " program. In the one day we will learn how to shoot wall work and garments.

Please let me know if this is a workshop you might consider and whether your interest would be 1 or two days.

The August/September Quilting Arts Magazine is now available. Our own Lynn Krawczyk has not one but two articles included!! The first, on pages 12-15, is called,"Off the Page" and describes Lynn's personal journalling/sketchbook technique and then describes how her ideas come "off the page" and onto fabric. Her journal is certainly neat...both-as in tidy and cool. I tend to be pretty messy if I ever get around to writing in my journal.

The second article is part of Lynn's ongoing series about fiber art groups on pages 62-66. In this article she describes the Thursday Art Group from Washington State. There are some yummy and colorful photos of their work.

Don't miss these and other articles. Many kudos to Lynn for the articles and the energy she puts out doing a full time job, as well as SAQA co-rep., SDA-MI blogger, writer, teacher, and artist! And she still finds time to be a good friend!

Lois Bryant on "All Things Considered'

I was interviewed by Kate Wells of Michigan Radio (91.7 FM) regarding the Ann Arbor Original Art Fair.  It will air on "All Things Considered" this Wednesday somewhere between 4 and 7 pm.  They will reduce the 45-minute interview to at most 5 minutes.  I hope in those 5 minutes I will sound thoughtful and upbeat!

Note: The Ann Arbor Art Fair will be open through Saturday, July 21. Check out the Ann Arbor Fiber Art booth, B101.
