ANOTHER DUNNEWOLD LECTURE

Hi Everyone,

Please share the following news from the Needlework and Textile Guild of Michigan (NTGM) with your guild members. NTGM is a multidisciplinary fiber-art guild with members whose interests range from knitting, quilting, and embroidery to weaving, beading, wearable art, and fiber sculptures. NTGM sponsors locally and nationally recognized speakers and monthly member workshops.

We are please to have internationally known artist JANE DUNNEWOLD speak at our March 12, 2013 meeting and would love to have interested Michigan artists attend to hear her presentation.

JANE DUNNEWOLD is the author of Complex Cloth (1996), Improvisational Screen Printing (2003), Finding Your Own Visual Language (2007), and Art Cloth: A Guide to Surface Design on Fabric (2010).  Jane is the former chair of the Surface Design Studio at the Southwest School of Art.  Her work was featured in the one-person exhibitions Sacred Planet (2009/2011) and Etudes: A Daily Practice (2011).  She was awarded the Quilt Japan Prize in the 2002 Visions exhibition, and the Gold Prize, at the Taegue International Textile Exhibition.  Currently she is the President of the international Surface Design Association and maintains the Art Cloth Studios, in San Antonio, Texas.  She teaches and lectures internationally, including recent tours to Australia, Italy and the United Kingdom.

Jane will speak on "The Evolution of Art Cloth" and take us through the journey from white fabric still on a bolt to the gorgeous works created by artists around the globe.  This is a close-up look at process and commitment - the story of many love affairs with cloth!

For more information on this acclaimed artist including tutorials and photographs see her websites:

JANE DUNNEWOLD will speak from 10:00 am to noon on March 12 at the St. Paul United Methodist Church, 165 East Square Lake Rd., Bloomfield Hills, MI 48302.  Doors open at 9:30 am for coffee and socializing.  There is a nominal $5.00 charge for non-NTGM members for the March 12 program.  For further information about our organization and attending our program, please call Barbara Gash - 248-338-3011 - and see our website:  www.ntgm.org.
