Pole Wrap or Arashi Shibori is a
Japanese fabric dyeing technique that creates a pattern that resembles driving
rain; the word Arashi means “storm” in Japanese. The patterning can appear
architectural or organic depending on how the fabric is manipulated around the
pole. Beautiful colors and textural surprises are
revealed as the poles are unwrapped.
This hands-on
workshop will cover many pole-wrapping techniques. We will use small cotton pieces of cloth (think
fat quarters), and fiber reactive dyes in immersion baths. Please note: This is not an opportunity to
make personal yardage. Supply list will
be sent upon enrollment.
To
sign up: Please send your check for $50
to Susie Krage. There will be no refunds
after the sign-up deadline of August 31st. If you are unable to attend, you may find a substitute.
(Note: $10 has been added to the workshop fee to help fund future SDA Michigan
expenses and exhibition costs.) No one
will be considered enrolled until their check has arrived.
Make checks out to Susie Krage with "Arashi Workshop" in
the memo line. Include your e-mail address
and telephone number with your payment. Send to: Susie Krage, 1731 Seminole
