Hello Michigan SDA Members! I hope you have had a productive summer and are enjoying the cooer weather. I always feel invigorated as the lazy summer days turn cooler. I am less tempted to be outside, so tend to get back to business in my studio.
You may remember that I recently announced the we have a new SDA-Michigan Ambassador to the west side of the state. Karin Larsen has graciously volunteered to fill that position. I am enclosing a note from her about the first gathering in Kalamazoo. I encourage you to attend if you from the area and are able. These smaller groups are a perk of your larger SDA membership and allow you the opportunity to meet other fiber enthusiasts from your part of Michigan. Each of the regional groups will develop their own format under the leadership of the Ambassador for that area.
The Detroit metro area group has been meeting regularly for about two years and lots of new friendships and sharing have occurred. An initial survey showed that members wanted to learn new techniques and share experiences. To that end, we have had a series of workshops. Members with an area of expertise have been willing to offer low cost one day workshops that have been excellent in quality and exciting in content.
If you are not in an area of the state where a local group meets, but would like to be, please contact me. There is no limit to the number of state level groups that can be formed. We just need a willing volunteer to step up and start a group. As you volunteer Sate Representative, I am here to assist.
With that in mind, Karin volunteered to host in the Kalamazoo-Grand Rapids area. Here is her notice of the fist meeting in that area.
Susie
