QUILTING CONNECTIONS
Saturday, September 15 – Saturday October 27, 2012
In the past, quilting was viewed as “women’s work” and indeed is was done as a necessity to produce needed household items. When we look at quilts from a different perspective, we see that they have always embodied the creativity of the maker along with their functionality. Quilting embodies the connections which we hope for in our lives. Quilters take disparate scraps of fabric and sew them into a unified whole creating a work of art. The works of these needle artists are as varied as their interests and inspirations. The exhibit features over thirty quilts fashioned by local artists. Colorful, inspiring, intricate or bold – the quilts proclaim the feats possible with patience, time and skill.
